General FAQ:

What is Mead?

Mead is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. The alcoholic content ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 20%. The defining characteristic of mead is that the majority of the beverage's fermentable sugar is derived from honey. It may be still, carbonated, or naturally sparkling; dry, semi-sweet, or sweet.

Why Mead?

The question I get asked most often is "What got you into mead?", so here’s my answer. The best origin stories are either born out of a lifelong passion or a moment of epiphany - for me it was somewhere in between.

I've always loved food and drink and as I grew up a bit more that interest in booze grew. I'd tried my hand at home-brewing beer at uni as all thriftily minded students should do. I then settled into making cider as it requires a bit less kit to be squeezed into a London flat! So I was coming from this amateur background in brewing when I took trip to the U.S.A. and discovered mead.

My partner is from New York, so every year we go over there for a road trip before thanksgiving. We go all over the place and highlights from these trips include the North Carolina BBQ trail and Key West, both of which I would definitely recommend to people! One special year took us to the North East and to Maine which is where this origin story has its closest thing to a moment of epiphany. - Tom Gosnell

Ordering FAQ:

What payment methods are available?

You are able to use all major credit and debit cards to make purchases on our website.

Is there a minimum order?

No. However our delivery price is constant, regardless of how many items you buy. We recommend buying more than one, as the more you buy the more you save.

Is there a maximum order?

We don’t conventionally have a maximum order, however if you are thinking of buying more than 24 bottles, send us an email at contact@gosnells.co.uk and we can try and sort something out for you.

Is payment safe?

Yes, extremely safe. If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes, you can add your own personal message to any order. When on the Order Summary page, please tick the gift message box to write your message. The order paperwork will come with this message as well as have the prices of the items removed, so they won't know how much you paid.
